Reviews April Foolishness
Author Teresa Bateman narrates this lighthearted iconographic version of the book, told in lilting rhyme, in which two children visit their grandparents' farm on April Fool's Day. In the second segment, ¡°Sharing My Story¡±, the author, also a school librarian, shares some jokes her students have tried. This section highlights some of the book's hilarious watercolor illustrations by Nadine Bernard Westcott such as the sheep sipping lemonade and listening to headphones on lounge chairs. Country guitars add to the charm. Children can write and illustrate their own April Fool's school pranks, recalling the author's caution to ¡°have fun, but remember, pranks are only fun if everyone's laughing!¡± School Library Journal, October 2006.
Author Teresa Bateman narrates this lovely iconographic adaptation of her picture book (2004). Bateman's perky narration and pans of Nadine Bernard Westcott's quirky ink drawings and colorful washes add to the fun of this rhyming story. The DVD includes a conversation with Bateman. Booklist, October 2006.
Narrated by author Teresa Bateman, this iconographic animated program (suitable for ages 4-8) is based on the 2004 Booklist ¡°Editor's Choice¡± picture book, illustrated by Nadine Bernard Westcott¡. Also featuring a bonus ¡°Meet the Author¡± voiceover segment (with Bateman talking about her family, job as a school librarian, and love of books), this whimsical adaptation is recommended.(Starred Review) Video Librarian, November/December 2006
